In 1951, Joachim Rost began a passion for repairing and restoring German cars during an apprenticeship in a Berlin body shop. There, he learned about quality, that only the best craftsmen, materials, and techniques are right for the job. He moved to the U.S. and, in 1966, opened German Auto Body in Santa Clara. Owner John Rost joined the family business, and for over 25 years has kept the tradition of quality he learned from his father.

 

German Auto Body does not "specialize in all makes and models". Our association with Piercey has allowed us to expand our base of knowledge from German vehicles to include Toyotas, the carline with the best reputation for quality in the world.    A quality car demands quality repairs - a perfect fit for us.

 

Our factory-trained technicians and painters are, quite literally, the best in the industry. Our shop manager won the Gold Medal in the collision-repair equivalent to the Olympics. Our craftsmen are current in their technical knowledge, use the best tools and equipment available, and apply factory standards as a rule of thumb. We take pride in our experts' ability to apply metal finishing, not body filler, to dents and dings, and we have won many awards for the quality of our paint application.

 

You have a choice when it comes to who will repair your collision-damaged vehicle. You are not obligated to use the repair shop your insurance refers you to. We work well with insurance companies, and we will be pleased to handle the paperwork and the negotiations for you once you file a claim.

But we do not have Direct Repair Provider contracts with any insurer in exchange for their referring customers to us, as do many other shops. Such agreements can force us to cut corners in the quality of a repair, such as the choice to use original equipment parts when needed. We work for you, not them, and we believe that we can better service our clients if we have immunity from the whims of the insurance industry. Our reputation brings us business, not insurers.

 

You may not notice all the hard work and attention to detail we apply when repairing or restoring your car, but we do want you to drive away with the feeling that your vehicle is actually better than you can remember. We expect to exceed your expectations.

We are just off Highway 101 and De La Cruz Boulevard, across the street from the Long Term Parking lot on the west side of San Jose Airport.
